STATE SENATE MINORITY LEADER SHARON NELSON ENDORSES PRAMILA JAYAPAL IN 7th CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT RACE
Seattle, WA - Washington State Senator (WA-34) and Senate Minority Leader Sharon Nelson today endorsed Washington State Senator Pramila Jayapal in the race for the 7th Congressional District seat being vacated by long-time U.S. Rep. Jim McDermott. Senator Nelson, who represents the 34th Legislative District which includes West Seattle and Vashon Island and is located entirely within the 7th Congressional District, issued the following statement:
I've worked with Sen Jayapal in the Washington State Senate and seen her deliver real results for her district and our state while standing up for our values at the same time. I know she will bring the same effective leadership she has shown in Olympia to the other Washington, leadership that is critical at this time in our nation's history.
Jayapal continues to receive the majority of major endorsements in the race. In addition to dominating the national endorsements -- having been endorsed by DFA, PCCC, moveon. org, EMILY’s list, NARAL, Planned Parenthood Action Fund, and 12 current members of Congress -- the campaign has also received endorsements by nearly 40 local labor unions and with the endorsement by Senator Nelson, has now been endorsed by 36 current and former local elected officials.

This support, combined with a decisive primary victory, an unmatched field program, and solid fundraising numbers -- Jayapal has to date raised over $1,500,000 -- puts the campaign in an excellent position heading into the Nov. 8th general election.
