In the 1st quarter of the fundraising this cycle, Pramila Jayapal’s campaign raised nearly $440,000. This total represents the amount the campaign raised between the time she announced her candidacy, on January 21st, through the end of March. Sen. Jayapal’s campaign has had massive support from all across the district, the state and country, receiving contributions from over 5,500 individuals in the 1st Quarter alone. Over 90% of the contributions received were grassroots donations less than $100.
Pramila said of the first quarter numbers, "I am honored to have the support of so many grassroots contributors. Together we are building a movement to take bold progressive action to tackle inequality: from raising the minimum wage, to expanding Social Security and Medicare, and making college both debt-free and tuition-free for young people across America."
In addition to the strong network of grassroots donors, the Jayapal campaign has received support from every labor union that has endorsed in this race, including the sole endorsement recommendation of the Martin Luther King County Labor Council, over 30 elected officials past and present, dozens of community leader, and hundreds of volunteers and activists. Additionally, she has the enthusiastic support of organizations like Emily’s List, Democracy for America, MoveOn.org, OneAmerica Votes and many more local and national community organizations and groups that are helping to build the grassroots movement to send Pramila to Congress through a strong field campaign of knocking on doors, making phone calls and engaging voters in their communities.
