WASHINGTON MACHINISTS COUNCIL AWARDS SOLE ENDORSEMENT TO PRAMILA JAYAPAL IN WASHINGTON’S 7th CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT RACE
SEATTLE, WA -- Washington State Senator Pramila Jayapal received the sole endorsement today of the Washington Machinists Council in the race to replace retiring Congressman Jim McDermott. The Council issued the following Press Release announcing the endorsement of Senator Jayapal:
SEATTLE - The Washington Machinists Council, which represents over 45 thousand union workers in the aerospace, manufacturing and forest products industries, today announced it is endorsing Pramila Jayapal in the Seventh Congressional District race.
Prior to the primary election, the Machinists Council had made a split endorsement of both Jayapal and Brady Pinero Walkinshaw.
The Council is putting its full support behind Jayapal in the November general election, said Machinists Council President Dan Morgan.
“We are big fans of Brady Walkinshaw,” said Morgan. “He has proven himself to be a young progressive leader and we believe he has a bright future.
“But we’re even bigger fans of Pramila Jayapal,” Morgan continued. “We believe her values are shared by the vast majority of voters in the Seventh District and we are confident she will be a passionate and effective representative for our community and a leader of the progressive movement in Congress.”
Jayapal's campaign has distinguished itself as the clear choice for labor. The campaign has now been endorsed by every union that has endorsed in this race, nearly 40 unions in total.
