Jayapal Responds to Rashida Tlaib's Victory

Congresswoman Jayapal issued the following statement:

“I want to congratulate my dear friend Rashida Tlaib for her historic victory in the Democratic primary for Michigan’s 13th Congressional District. With her win, Rashida is well on her way to becoming one of the first Muslim women to get elected to Congress. From securing funding for free health clinics, to being an advocate for education and advancing legislation to protect homeowners from fraudulent mortgage bankers, Rashida used her time in the Michigan House of Representatives to champion a real progressive vision for Michigan. I am delighted that voters want to send her to Washington D.C., because we need more bold progressive leadership like Rashida’s in Congress.”
